WY eWIC Self-Checkout

General eWIC Self-Checkout Tips at all Stores

WIC-authorized vendors use a variety of cash register systems. Store managers and cashiers can give specific help beyond these general self-checkout tips. Some WIC-authorized stores have self-checkout lanes that are not approved for WIC purchases. Check the “WIC Stores and Markets” button on the WICShopper app to see if a listed store offers self-checkout for WIC.

To Complete an eWIC Purchase at Self-Checkout:

  1. Scan all of your food items
  2. Press “Pay” (the screen may say “Pay Now,” “Finish and Pay,” or “Pay with Card”)
  3. Swipe your eWIC card before any other form of payment and follow the prompts to enter your PIN
  4. Review the mid-transaction Benefit Balance and Proposed Redemption receipts that print out
  5. Press “YES” to approve the eWIC transaction or “NO” to decline
  6. If there is a remaining balance, follow the PIN pad prompts to pay the remainder with another form of payment
  7. A final receipt will print. Review it to confirm that the ending balances are as expected

To Adjust or Decline a Purchase at Self-Checkout (or void an item in a transaction):

  • If you wish to decline a purchase, select “NO” on the PIN pad and no WIC benefits will be used.
  • If you decline a purchase with a remaining balance due, you may put some items back and restart the process for the items you wish to keep.
  • If you approve a purchase with both WIC and non-WIC items and a remaining balance is due, you can still void WIC and non-WIC items prior to the transaction being completed. This may require cashier assistance.
  • If you are only purchasing WIC items and have no remaining balance due, after you approve the purchase, you will not be able to void or adjust it.

To Check Your Benefit Balance at Self-Checkout:

You can check your Benefit Balance at self-checkout at the following Wyoming WIC-authorized stores prior to beginning a transaction: Albertson’s, Safeway and Walmart. At other stores, you will need to request a Balance Inquiry at Customer Service or from a cashier.
