Dear Colorado WIC Clients: 

On February 18th, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Abbott announced a national recall on several Similac infant formulas, including Alimentum and Elecare products. The recall doesn’t include any liquid formula products, only powdered.

If you purchased powdered Alimentum, EleCare, or EleCare Junior formulas at the store or received formula that WIC ordered for your baby or child, please follow the guidance and recommendations on the Abbott website or call 1-800-986-8540 to see if the formula you have is part of the recall and to learn more. Please, do not use any recalled powdered infant formula.

If your WIC purchased formula is impacted and you would like to switch to another formula, please work with your health care provider to determine the best formula for your baby and get a new WIC formula prescription. WIC formulas are listed on page 2 of the WIC formula prescription.
