50 unique item limit for WIC transactions

The new food package has added lots of new food options for families. However, WIC purchases are limited to 50 unique WIC items per transaction.

Here’s what this means:

• Trying to buy more than 50 unique WIC items at once will cause the transaction to be declined.
  • Buying 2 cans of black beans of the same size and brand counts as one unique WIC item.
  • Buying 1 can of black beans and 1 can of pinto beans counts as two unique WIC items.
• To avoid reaching this limit, split large WIC transactions into smaller, separate transactions.
• Non-WIC items bought with other payment types do not count toward the 50-item limit.
